I have thus far competed in two speech tournaments. One was a huge tournament at Chaska High School, and the other a much smaller one at Mound. A week before the Chaska tournament, I hadn’t even written my speech so I spent a lot of time doing that/trying to get homework done. I was able to get it memorized before the tournament, but I had a lot of stumbles so I didn’t do as well. At Mound, I got into the final round and ended up getting 6th place. I really want to do better, though, so I think I’ll have to find a new topic and write about it.

Everything else in my life is just mediocre right now.

I also need a car, I’m looking at 1999.5-2002 Jettas and Cabrios from Volkswagen or a 2001 Honda civic.

Stupid name, but I really am happy with the way this layout turned out. The only thing that really irks me is the way i styled the h1 and h2 tags. I still have some stuff I have to finish to make this layout completely 100% finished–I know I’m so horrible putting up a layout before it is completely finished. This layout took me so long to make/code, granted I was also watching TV most of the time but still.

On Friday 2 of my close friends and I had ‘Sadie’s Single’s Night’ at Mall of America. Last week was our winter formal week and there was a dance on Friday, but as the name implies me and two other friends didn’t ask anyone. One of my friends broke up with her boyfriend a week ago, one of them likes this guy who is currently in rehab, and me? Well, I’m just a loser who sort of likes a guy at school (*hotmathclass guy*) but really likes a guy in Colorado. I almost wished I asked the guy in my math class, but I haven’t really talked to him. He was voted into Winterfest court, which almost everyone I talked to said was a fluke because he’s so awkward (I have to admit I did laugh at his awkward-ness during the court performance in the variety show and during coronation).

Mall of America was super fun, but we got there at 7:30 p.m. First, we went to Urban Outfitters and they had a 50% off sale stuff sale. I got this purse for $20 (regularly priced $70).

Purse from Urbanoutfitters

We also went to Forever21. The problem with Forever21 is that for every thing I like, there is about 20 things I would never wear. I like shopping off their website so much better than in there store. I ended up getting two basic v-neck tees in teal and lime green for $3.50 a piece and the following three necklaces:

Debutante necklace from Forever21.

A necklace with an elephant pendant from Forever21.

Survivor necklace from Forever 21.

I love finding deals. Tomorrow I have an impossible Chemistry Test on basic Quantum mechanics that no one understands, this is just 11th grade chemistry for crying out loud! Time to go study…

WE WON WE WON WE WON WE WON WE WON!!!!

This was my FIRST mock trial case ever and also the FIRST time a mock trial team from our school has won a trial in two years!

Except, winning comes at an expense. Today was also my last ski team race, and that would determine the roster for sections and state (if we made it). My mother literally came up to my room 3 times to yell at me for considering missing ski team for mock trial last night, and therefore I was unable to notify my coach in advance I would be gone. Today I called up my mom during lunch and told her I would be going to mock trial and I told her to call coach, which she did but he didn’t answer. As far as my coach knows, I just skipped ski team which I would NEVER do. I just sent him an email about an hour ago and I’m kinda nervous about his response. I lettered and I earned that letter through a lot of hard work, mentally and physically, and I don’t want it to get taken away just because my mom wouldn’t let me call him. Wish me luck I guess….

Today was also the start of the new semester (we had monday off for some random reason). My AP Calc teacher switches the seating chart mid-semester and at the beginning of semesters and so far I have gotten to sit by the hottest guy in the class all 3 seating charts!! Maybe it’s just because we’re tall so we’re always in back. First he was on my left, then behind me, and now he’s sitting on my right. His best friend sits in front of me and one of my really good friends sits in front of him so hopefully I’ll be talking to my friend and he’ll be talking to his friends and our conversations will just combine! (wow that was probably a really bad run on sentence).

I guess I should write something about mock trial. I didn’t have anything prepared so I wrote my questions in under an hour. My direct examination questions were written by the witness and they weren’t that great, but I rocked my cross examination. I just wish I had had the questions memorized, that would have made it seem a lot more professional. We won 231-205, though, so we did pretty good.

The bus from mock trial left at 4 and got back at 8, everyone was so hungry we had a celebratory McDonald’s run, so I didn’t get home until 9. I actually have a decent amount of homework tonight too. Better get started on that…

Youth in Government this year was amazing! Like Model UN, I grew so much as a person and my public speaking skills and confidence grew dramatically. I could practically FEEL the difference in my public speaking/persuasiveness skills. Of course, with every YIG there is also a dance that is hardly chaperoned and in the center of the dance (where I was) you literally cannot move without bumping into someone. I found the prettiest red strapless dress for YIG, it took me forever to find one that I liked! Also, as is true with every YIG, I met a ton of new people and became closer to other people in my school. Oh, and I’m also proud of myself for debating the most out of every other girl in the Senate (this only helps prove that I’m moving away from my once shy self.).

Oh, and of course we met some cool guys at YIG too. The past two Fridays we have hung out with two of them and one of their friends. My friend and one of the guys like each other and I kinda have a little, innocent (ha! yeah right) on one of his friends. I love them though…they act so cool but you can tell that they are losers at their school.

Finals week was last week, which is why I haven’t been posting as much as I said I would. I’m still waiting on my grades in Spanish, World History, and Calculus, but I think I got straight A’s, (except for AP Gov/Macro which I took online… I think I’ll try and bargain with my teacher so if I get a 5 on the test I get an A in the class). My schedule next semester is as follows:

Spanish Four

Accelerated Chemistry

Study Hall

Wind Ensemble

AP Lit/Comp

AP Calc

AP World History

Online: AP Microeconomics

I’m thinking about making a new layout…except I have no inspiration. I really like this layout, except it has browser compatibility issues and I wish it was ‘elastic’. Oh well…

Oh, I just checked my grades since I realized I deleted the post and I saw that my grade in Calc is an A- (I got a 90 on the final though!!) and my grade in Spanish is an A- and my grade in World History is an A-. I have some extra credit in history and calculus that may raise my grade to an A. So pretty much straight A’s….YAY! G-town here I come!

I need to write these down somewhere, even if they are kinda pointless because, honestly, how often do you keep your new years resolutions?

1. READ – I’m going to try and read a minimum of 30 minutes a night of a non-school assigned book. (this one will probably be the most broken)
2. Learn Ravel’s Miroirs Suite – seriously, look it up on youtube. These piano pieces are probably some of the best ever written.
3. Apply to college and get accepted EA/ED to whatever college I decide on going too!!
4. Make junior year amazing!
5. Stop being so darn shy (this has been getting a ton better, it’s like I’m a different person)
6. Find a new domain name…
7. Try to switch my clothes shopping skills from quanity to quality, so then I can mix and match expensive with cheap, urban outfitters sale stuff
8. Make it to sections for Ski team and then STATE 2010!
9. Write my speech/do amazingly well in speech team
10. Be accepted to CONA
11. Find another good summer program (preferably a study-abroad/community service thing)
12. Get my license before I turn 17…
13. Job???
14. Add to this list!!

I’ll probably sticky this on my ‘About Me’ page. *TANGENT* I was going to put ‘develop a style’ on there because my style really varies day to day, but I think I already have. My folder partner (love her!) in band today said she thought of me while dressing… as weird as that sounds it was because she had a high-waisted skirt on with a cute shirt. *ENDTANGENT*

Today we had a ski team race. For those who aren’t familiar with the rules of Alpine slalom ski racing, each team has a boys and girls team with 10 people each. The first people on these teams skis first depending on what school is first, and after all the first seeds have gone then the second seeds from each school go (the best people from each team are usually first because the snow is better – I actually have yet to see a team that ranks people differently). Each racer takes two runs, so the 10th person is usually freezing their buttocks off by their second run because in Minnesota once the sun goes down, well actually even before the sun goes down, it is FREEZING! It doesn’t help that we wear spandex GS suits. Sometimes I wonder why I even do this sport, then I quickly remember it’s because I love skiing.

Anyways, my first run went alright. It was super icy tonight and a ton of people fell. I was sixth seed tonight so I was already aware of this so I skied very conservatively and ended up with an ok time. My second run, however, I had a momentarily lapse of concentration and turned too early so my ski hit the gate and came off and I had to put it on and hike up to the gate and go around it (my time for this run was over a minute…). That run was going so well though, and everyone I talked too said that I looked really good until I fell. Oh well, this just makes me more determined to be awesome next time!!!

NOTE: I just checked the weather, right now at the hill it is -6 degrees Farenheit. Brrr!

My coach talked to my mom and afterward he said that I was ‘about to break through’ and ‘on the brink’ so I really hope he’s right — he’s been coaching for 20 years so he better be!! I think he’s right though, my technique has gotten a ton better from watching videos of Olympic skiers and now I just have to figure out how to actually go fast. Oh, and I finally have all the right equipment which helps (I completed my ensemble with racing boots that I got over Christmas break).

Anyways, I have Youth in Government this weekend starting Thursday and I am SUPER excited!! I decided instead of being in the court system this year I’d rather be in the Senate. At first I was worried about my bill, but then I saw all the stupid bills other people wrote. I’ll post another blog solely dedicated to bill ideas with the title “the good, the bad, and the stupid”.

This year I have been SO busy. I guess I could’ve blogged about a lot of things, but mostly pressure to add more graphics/tutorials/visitor content and to update the site made me just want to forget about it. One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to BLOG a lot more (note the blog, not the update), and hopefully the updates will come with time. I’ve thought about starting a new website because I’m so sick of ‘azure-seas’ (I didn’t even choose that name – my friend did). BUT, I decided I like my theme too much for this website.

Besides just being sick of the name, my schedule has been keeping me busy. Junior year is supposed to be the hardest year, so I must be crazy to want to have thrown in 2 extra classes. Here’s my schedule:
1 – Spanish IV
2 – AP Lit/comp
3- Accel. Chemistry
4 – Wind Ensemble (we’re going to Indianapolis for the Bands of America convention because we’re pretty much 1 of the top 15 bands in the nation!!!!!!!!!!!!)
5 – Study Hall
6 – AP Calc AB
7 – AP World History
Online – Ap Macro and AP Gov

Wow that’s a lot of AP/honors classes. It better be worth it, Georgetown (I think) is my dream school. I’ve heard that the kids there are super preppy though, so I’ll have to visit it first. Oh and of course my extracurriculars: Mock Trial, Speech Team, Quiz Bowl (hot guy is captain, that was my motivation for joining), Youth in Government, Model UN, and I think that’s all….? Oh wait, Varsity downhill ski team.

I just really hope I don’t mess everything up after all this and I am pushing myself a little too hard which is why second semester I’m only going to take one of those online courses.

So when we went up to the cabin we saw my cousin from Alaska, Johannes, for the first time in a couple of years. Sadly his little sister (who isn’t really little ‘cuz she’s a year older than me) couldn’t come too because instead she got to go to Australia and study for a semester at an art school in California. Anyways, after we left the cabin we went down to the local science museum and they had a Titanic exhibit with real artifacts and stuff. They gave us a card with the name of a real passenger and at the end you found out if you lived or not. According to my card, I was a 24 year old newly-wed from Italy who was pregnant and traveling 2nd class. I guess I lived but my new husband/baby daddy died. It’s hard to imagine myself in that situation for real and it must’ve been so hard for that woman and all the others. The artifacts in the exhibit were mostly plates/tiles/other stuff that was made out of metal. Someone’s leather suitcase was recovered, too, which was interesting. I mean who would have imagined that a suitcase wouldn’t have like disintegrated in the sea.

Anyways, then we all played risk and I ended up with Australia and Europe so I was getting about 12 people a turn and about to take over Asia. As usual, once it was clear that someone (*coughMEcough*) was going to win everyone else quit. Risk is super fun game I love it!!!

Has anyone else been watching Real World on MTV? Well if you have, Jonna used to be my favorite person but she’s just way to flirty ad I mean she has a boyfriend that she’s said over and over again that she ‘loves’ but the next minute she’ll be snuggling in a hammock with another guy. Plus, I don’t care what she said but she completely stole Pat away from Jasmine. I mean Jasmine may have been acting psycho but I don’t think she deserved that… I really have to stop watching TV when I get bored haha.

This took me so long to make for some reason… maybe it’s because I tried making it while watching tv/movies so I wasn’t completely 100% concentrated. Anyways, I hate IE. This layout looks so much better in firefox because of the opacity thing and just because firefox is better in general. I’ll try to make the layout look better in IE (which means making some backgrounds that’ll make it look opaque and figuring out why the comments link doesn’t look cool like I wanted it too).

Well I got the space images from the Hubble Telescope website, I’ve always wanted to make something with those pictures because they are so beautiful, especially the nebulae. I just have a fascination with space. I mean there’s just so much to think and learn about and I know I sound like a total geek right now.

On Friday me and my BFF Alison and I went to see The Ugly Truth and I thought it was hilarious. It was super awkward though because we went to the 12:00 afternoon showing and there were all these old people in the theater and Alison and I were like laughing and making fun of every sexual thing and the old people would give us funny looks… I thought that it was a good chick flick though, and the movie popcorn at the theater is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After the movie we went over to Tyler’s house, he’s dating one of my other friends, and hung out with like these really weird seniors last year/freshmen in college this year. They really creep me out so I’m kinda looking forward to next year when they won’t be there. I know it’s mean but it’s the truth. The UGLY truth, haha.

Ow, my teeth hurt. I went to the orthodontist for the first time in over a year and he tightened my retainer a lot because it was super loose before. What a great story, I know.

Oh, and check either the textures/brushes/wallpapers page because I revamped it so they now have a cool hover-over download thing. It’s hard to explain. And another thing I added are the dymanically changing sidebars.

I’m going to be up at my grandparent’s cabin until Tuesday! But my grandpa has a blackberry so I might be able to use that to get on the internet and respond to comments (uggh I’m getting so lazy at that it’s not that I don’t want too it’s just that I am being a lazy butt head so if I haven’t responded to your comment feel free to call me that).

Well the cabin was fun and like two days after we went to San Diego and just got back last night. I was going to blog about it while I was in San Diego, but that was because I assumed we’d have internet. Errr ya we didn’t have internet so I couldn’t update or anything.

What I did in San Diego:
- The first day we came we met the woman my dad cheated on my mom with, which led to my parent’s divorce (which after two years of bitter arguments, late night phone calls, constantly battling over money in emails, is almost over!) Well, she picked us up from the Coaster (which is just a train that goes along the metro area) in Encinitas and then my dad tells us we’re going to stay in her house! with her kids! Her kids names are Courtney, who is my age and going into 11th grade and is like a surfer person, Emily who is going into 9th grade and was taking a modeling class and wants to be a model, and Gavin who is like a 7th grader I think who is like a skater dude. Anyways, Emily was outgoing and somewhat friendly, Gavin was shy, and Courtney tried to get out of the house as much as possible (I would have done exactly the same thing). Oh, and to make it more awkward Courtney and Gavin share a room (i have no idea why) and my sister and I basically kicked them out of their room, well it wasn’t our fault that was just where we were told to stay.
- So we went to dinner and it was super awkward and none of us really talked to anyone other than our own siblings/parents
- The next day we went shopping! That was the highlight of my trip, I got a bunch of super cute stuff from Urban Outfitters.
- The next significant event was me almost drowning. Emily, Anna, and I grabbed like this little inflatable boat/raft thing and went out past the breakers (which were huge because the surf was really big). Of course, a huge wave came and it lifted us up and I fell out and it crashed on top of me and I was dragged for like 20-30 seconds underwater. During those 20-30 seconds I tried to swim against the wave until I was exhausted and then when I stopped being dragged I ended up somewhere where I couldn’t touch. Wave after wave after wave just kept coming but I didn’t feel like I could go underwater to avoid them because I couldn’t breathe. I finally just tried swimming and I saw a man who looked like he was standing and then I realized I could so I walked to shore and to the bathroom and then I vomited up like a ton of water. It was grosss! Of course, neither Anna (my sis) or Emily realized that I was drowning and no one else was around.
- Umm, the only other fun thing we did was snorkling in La Jolla cove. There were grey fish and orange fish. The orange fish freaked me out. Great story, I know. Oh! We also saw a seal on the rocks, thank god it didn’t swim by us in the water though otherwise I would have been so freaked out.

I have a lot of comments to respond to so I’ll try to get through them throughout the day. Sorry for not like updating/posting I can’t believe they didn’t have internet!
