Out of all the pages on azure-seas.net, the About Me page is always the hardest to write. Weird, huh? Especially considering that I should know more about myself than anything else I write about. I guess I just don’t know myself very well yet, but then again not a lot of people my age do.
So you want to know a little more about me? My name is Johnna Ellen (last name here). Now you’re probably wondering why I call myself Emy. There are two reasons, the first being I like Emy better than my middle name or first name. The second reason is that my Great-Grandma Ellen always used to call herself Emy, so it was a nickname that was passed to me along with her first name. I don’t know who that Johnna Ellen person is, I am Emy and will always be Emy… at least until I am an adult and start acting more professional.
I am such a boring person, not much has happened that makes my life different or exciting, however I will try my best to not bore you to death if you are still interested in reading my biography. As you have already read, I go by my nickname (Emy). My birthday is on March 21st, 1993 which makes me 16 years old. When I think about it, I’ve accomplished a lot in 16 years. I have several piano awards, a varsity letter from ski team, my website (no, duh!), somewhat ok grades but I’m in the advanced classes, and participation in many programs such as Youth in Government and Model United Nations.
Some people call me pretty, others don’t even glance twice at me. It’s true, beauty really is up to the eye of the beholder. I don’t consider myself beautiful, just average. My hair is dirty blond (although with light blond highlights most of the year, except summer when my natural highlights come in), and I have gray eyes. I really like my gray eyes, they change color and match almost any eyeshadow, except for some reason they always look green when I wear blue eyeshadow. I am 5′8″ and an American size 3/4, usually I am about 120-125 pounds. My personal style varies, I like to have a little bit of everything. Some days I’ll dress ultra-girly and the next very punk. For the most part I am satisfied with my physical appearance, I don’t hate the way I look but I don’t really love it either.
I have a love/hate relationship with the piano. The hate part of my relationship comes from practicing, I am such an impatient person and can’t stand to practice piano. However, I really do love playing a piece perfectly. For the past 4 years I have competed in a state-wide piano competition, were the best 80 or so from each category are selected to perform on an Honors Concert (20 people per a duet (10 on each part)), and I have won for the last 3 years. At my school I am taking AP music theory, however I have taken 4 levels of Music Theory tests from the same organization that runs the state-wide piano competition. Piano and music have become such a huge part of my life, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to let it go.
I shoot without caring. This year I have really started to get into photography, you can check out my deviantart account: illusionaryy.deviantart.com. I love taking pictures and editing them in Photoshop. Right now I need a better camera, the one I have is holding my back (it’s just a cheap, Sony digital camera). I have my eyes on the Canon 50d and luckily my mom wants a nice camera too so I’m in luck. Keep watching my deviantart for more photos!
Athletics keep me fit both mentally and physically. I don’t do a sport in the spring or summer, and it makes my life feel so gross and non-busy. I play volleyball during the fall, not very well but I try hard… I think I’ll always be lacking the necessary hand-eye coordination but at least my school isn’t super competitive so a girl like me can get by. The sport I really love is downhill skiing. I love skiing, and ski racing is ok too (at least it gives me something interesting to do after school). I’ve only been skiing for about 3 years so I’m definitely not the best in my team and I haven’t been involved in all the USSA club stuff, but I try (and fail). During the spring, I just go running a lot to keep myself sane.
My future profession will land me in the only spotlight I want to be in: political. I’ve heard it over and over again, “Emy, you do not want to be a politician.” But the thing is, I really do! I want to contribute what I can to our world, and the easiest way to do this is through politics. My dream is to revolutionize the political world of the United States — for the better. There is just so much corruption right now in politics, it’s disgusting. I sincerely want to do what I can to help my country, but I don’t have the guts to serve in the army. Then again it does take guts to serve in politics, because there’s always going to be someone who hates me. So, if you live in the United States vote for Johnna (my name I will most likely be going by) for President…or Senator!!!
I like to exercise my mind. Call me a nerd but on plane rides I take my book of logic puzzles and sudoku and solve those puzzles. They are just so much fun!! I also love reading, however I do get frustrated by the overused plots of today so I spend most of my time reading classics. Besides this, I take challenging courses in school. I don’t always work my hardest even though I should, but that’s just part of the learning process. I’m too cool for school, not really though more like: too school for cool, haha.
I am constantly learning. And I can’t wait until I’m old enough to travel more so I can learn more about foreign countries.
